What Is Your Business With A Godly Home?
China as a country is a Secular State. This implies that China is not officially a Christian or Muslim country and neither projects any particular religion nor endorses them. Yet, China has one of the best economies on earth, with advancement in various aspects of development. Why is this so? It is because many people and families resident in that society exhibit godly virtues such as love, discipline, sincerity, smart work, lawful conduct and focus. Even their governments, institutions believe in and uphold justice and fairness in their dealings. Singapore too has many disciplined residents.
The United States of America is usually referred to as God’s own country; not necessarily because it projects a particular religion but because of the prevalent commendable standard of living there. Like the United States, the appreciated order and sanity in most European countries exist, not because sins or crimes are absent in those climes, but because of the godly values that MAJORITY of members of the family institutions (homes) there, uphold and exhibit. Those values are transmitted from parents to children. The children grow into teenagers and youths, who constitute a higher population of the society.
Every individual on earth comes from a family. A combination of the families make up a society and it is the values or virtues exhibited by products of the various homes that determine societal status. So, the next time you want to blame a State Governor for lying to the entire state and stealing money from the purse, consider your ways and be sure you have not been lying to your children or encouraging them to lie or to outsmart their contemporaries by stealing from them, what belongs to a collective group.
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will
also reap” (Galatians 6:7).
Religion without godliness is a useless venture. Though religion has to do with belief or worship of something, it emphasizes more on regular pattern of activities, ceremonies and ceremonial display.
Godliness has to do with behaving like God and doing what God stands for. What does God stand for? Love, sincerity, holiness, truth, justice, uprightness, discipline, forgiveness, patience, commitment, focus, and all other positive virtues. In fact, the Cambridge Advanced Learners’ Dictionary defines the word “godless” as “bad or evil.”
So, godliness reflects in your character (fruits of the Holy Spirit in Galatians 5: 22-23), rather than in your ceremonial displays, the church you attend, your length of stay in church, the size of your cathedral and so on. BUILDING A GODLY HOME IS BEYOND TAKING YOUR SPOUSE AND CHILDREN TO CHURCH OR MOSQUE EVERYDAY; JUST AS ABSENCE FROM OR DISREGARD FOR THE HOUSE OF WORSHIP OR FELLOWSHIP IS AN EVIDENCE OF DISLOYALTY TO THE ONE YOU CLAIM TO WORSHIP (Hebrews 10:25).
I must state here that your display of all godly virtues outside Jesus Christ is called self righteousness and can fail in the day of test or judgement because “all our righteous
acts are like filthy rags” before God
(Isaiah 64:6). You can only be “
justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:22-24).
You can only achieve righteousness through Christ and his strength
(Philippians 4:13). So, the godliness outside the influence of resurrection power in Christ Jesus can fail.
However, godliness is “good” and will remain so. Godlessness is “bad” and remains so. It is the virtues and values of godliness that makes a society better. It is a combination of godly homes, including your own, that can make your society better. So, if you do not work to achieve godliness in your own home by complying with the family-related injunctions of the reliable word of God (Holy Bible), your society can never get better and you may continue to partake in the sufferings that result from godlessness and keep blaming others.
The bad leaders and politicians in your society are products of homes in that society. If as a parent, you are not living a godly lifestyle for your children to emulate or copy, you and your home (family institution) are part of your society’s headache.
You may ask: “Even if my household or family members live godly lives, does it change the entire society?” My dear, it is tiny drops of water that make a mighty ocean. If figure ONE is not added to 99, it can never become 100.
“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).
So, even if you hold big spiritual titles in church, your faith has to produce good works because
“faith without
works is dead” (James 2:26). As long as you continue to arrange miracle examination centres for your children, you are the problem in our society. If you lie to or defraud your spouse, children or parents, you are the reason our society is suffering. If you are a parent that attacks school teachers because they corrected your children for bad behaviour, you are our problem in this society. If you give bribes for your children to be admitted into schools or get employed when they are not qualified for such promotions, you are the society’s problem. If the money given to you by your children, spouse or parents in trust, to keep cannot be accounted for, you are not better than any corrupt politician. If you sell a property belonging to your entire family and keep the money to yourself alone, you are a godless person in that family. If you encourage your children to dupe the companies where they work or steal from their classmates in school, you are very godless.
We need godly homes to achieve a godly society. God said about Abraham “For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him,
and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment…”
(Genesis 18:19).
Can the Almighty God that you claim to be serving say this about you? Please, examine your ways. If your heart has not been possessed by Jesus Christ, there is no hope of a godly life, a godly home or a godly society. It ids not by powetr or by might. It is a spiritual matter.
