Aviation Minister Distributes Fertilizers To Boost Agricultural Development In Delta State
In a major step towards enhancing agricultural productivity and supporting local farmers, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), distributed 600 bags of 50kg fertilizer across the three senatorial districts of Delta State. This initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which seeks to foster sustainable development and uplift the livelihoods of Nigerians through agriculture.
The distribution targeted registered farmer cooperatives across Delta North, Delta South, and Delta Central, providing them with essential resources to improve crop yield and support local food security. In Delta Central alone, around 30 registered farmers’ cooperatives benefited from this fertilizer distribution, reflecting the government’s commitment to empowering grassroots farmers and promoting agricultural growth.
Speaking on the initiative, the aviation Minister emphasized the importance of supporting the agricultural sector as a means to drive economic progress, reduce poverty, and create employment opportunities. “Our farmers are the backbone of this country, and it is imperative that they receive the support needed to enhance their productivity. This fertilizer distribution is part of a broader effort to strengthen our agricultural value chain and ensure food security for all Nigerians,” he stated.
The fertilizer distribution is expected to significantly boost the output of local farmers, especially as the planting season continues. Beneficiaries across the senatorial districts expressed gratitude, noting that this support comes at a crucial time to increase harvests and reduce dependency on expensive imports. The initiative is also anticipated to promote the cultivation of high-demand crops, reduce production costs for farmers, and contribute to the stability of food prices within the region.
The Minister reiterated his dedication to ensuring that the agriculture sector, alongside aviation, is given the attention and resources it deserves. “Agriculture and aviation might seem worlds apart, but they are both critical to our national economy. We’re working to ensure that every sector is strengthened for the benefit of all Nigerians,” he said.
This distribution is just one of the many initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to create a robust and diversified economy through strategic partnerships and resource allocation. The government plans to continue empowering communities by providing the necessary inputs and resources to farmers nationwide.
