COVER TITLE: The title of the book, “When It Seems God Is Silent”, is very attractive considering the fact that so many believers and unbelievers are presently going through life situations and facing challenges that make them quietly, and sometimes openly, wonder whether God is silent over their condition. It is therefore very creative of Rev. Eguabor to choose “When It Seems God Is Silent” as title of the book. You really need to read this book for answer to that puzzle.

COVER DESIGN & COLOUR COMBINATION: Both the cover design and colour combination are beautiful and attractive

AUTHOR OF THE FOREWORD: The author of this book also chose the right person to write the foreword in the person of His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Curtis Fianu, the Bishop of Lagos Bishopric, Church of God Mission International. Bishop Fianu’s input drawn from his experience in life and ministry adequately helped to amplify the author’s message and he concluded the foreword by saying: “I do recommend this book to all and sundry, especially to those going through the waters of life. Read it patiently and recommend it to your family members, friends, and well-wishers.”

The very appealing introduction of the book informs you that “that whatever you may have been going through in your family/marriage, job, business, career, finances or unknown spiritual battles, God has predestined solutions for you through Christ and the strength to overcome them all is already in you.” It also states that “Problem is never an excuse for failure in life. ”

CHAPTER ONE starts by explaining how you as a child of God, are not a product of accident and you are not a duplicate.Every creature of God is original in nature. Even  identical twins, still have many things uncommon to each other.” So, be original.

If you are going through a challenge, you also need to read this book to know how grace brings you help when you need it the most. Esau’s story was used to reveal how someone can break free from any bondage and captivity in life.

Interesting CHAPTER TWO explains how “the plan of God for human beings is that they enjoy God’s blessings, remain fruitful, multiply, govern the earth and reign over God’s creatures.” Despite redemption realities through Jesus, “the wilderness experience which is an unusual experience, remains what humans cannot avoid” and most times, the enemies make jest of believers with challenges. “Their prayers seem to be unheard by God and they go into sin-consciousness, thinking they might be the worst sinners on earth. To further heighten the pain of such people,” they see notorious sinners seemingly enjoying what this believer has been seeking to enjoy over the years. Someone here right now is going through what this book is talking about. This is why you must read it. Wilderness experiences are many-career problems, childlessness, marital instability, health issues, long-term singlehood, financial retrogression or stagnation and so on. As you seek solution, God will visit you in Jesus name!.

The book also explains how knowledge can help you overcome evil counsel from the enemy as you take decisions in life. Jesus told the Pharisees in Mark 12: 24  “Your mistake is that you don’t know the scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God”. Job told his wife “You talk like a foolish woman. Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?” So, in all of this, Job said nothing wrong. Peter wanted to give Jesus evil counsel and deny us all of salvation. Bible says when Jesus talked about his death, “Peter took him aside and began to reprimand him for saying such things. Heaven forbid, Lord! This will never happen to you. But Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get away from me Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.”

The book teaches that as you go through life’s negative situations in diverse areas, you should be conscious of your purpose in life and allow the searchlight of the Holy Spirit help you screen every counsel that comes your way in troubled times because some of the counsels are meant to make you walk against God’s plan for your life.

The book also encourages you with Ecclesiastes 3:15 that “What is happening now has happened before, and what will happen in the future has happened before because God makes the same things happen over and over again.” “Therefore, it must be understood that troubles and challenges in life are not for a specific race, generation, social status, or financial/intellectual background but human beings face their square portions per time according to the plan of God for them.”

“As you allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you as you read this book, know that quitting without God’s counsel and involvement may not always be the answer. People most times look at the pains, inconveniences, and torture they go through when under pressures of life but only a few look beyond the pains. The author reminds you of how everything will work to together for the good of those who love God.

Jesus like everyone, had His own share of challenges while on earth and because he refused to be distracted, he is the supreme entity of the entire universe in all authority. I, therefore, encourage you today, Brethren, refuse to be distracted,” says the author.

CHAPTER 3 is a reassurance of God’s presence with you. Because God is a Spirit, he is not limited to time: whether day or night or any time of the year. He is always present because he is the only friend you can have when no one else is close.

Emphasizing the importance of not breaking fellowship with God, the author saidin all you are experiencing, hold on to God in fellowship. Many voices will come speaking to you to distract your course from Jesus and your faith, but I encourage you to remain steadfast, looking unto Jesus…” It says “Maintaining fellowship with God no matter what comes our way makes it easier to hear God’s voice.” The assurance is that God’s seal is on you. The book says “Brethren, your constant consciousness of God’s seal on your life will lift you above every satanic plan, strategies, and activities against your life.”

CHAPTER 4 is actually the title of the book. “When it seems God is Silent.” It highlights life’s “situations that defile solutions from several aspects of life like barreness, marital troubles, rejection, sicknesses, limitation, financial hazard, etc. Many of the victims of life’s situations are believers who already live the life of prayers. Giving to God’s work is their culture. Their faith remains steadfast in Christ their Saviour, like Abraham. Their strict obedience rests on Jesus. Yet, it seems as if God no more hears their prayers or understand the way they feel. Much more, some of these victims have already heard God’s instructions either through voice or dream assuring them of his presence with them and what he is going to do with or for them. So, they wait anxiously because they trust that God has spoken.” There is someone going through this right now. As you read this book, the Lord will show you mercy in Jesus name.

This book is powerful. It says “GOD IS NEVER SILENT.” “Remember that God is not a man. He speaks when he is speaking, and he speaks even when he is silent.” Does it now mean that God promises and fails? Ecclesiastes 3:1 says “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity
under heaven.” This means that there is a season of laughter and a season of challenge. Your season of laughter is coming in Jesus name.

Do not question God. Job 34:29, says but if God chooses to remain quiet, who can criticize him? When he hides his face, no one can find him, whether an individual or a nation. If you can be patient with God, you will end up as a reference point like Hannah.

The book notes that nobody enjoys delay in any area of life; but do not throw away your faith because of delay. Delay is not Denial.

You need to read this book yourself. It says achievement is not fulfillment. Don’t try to help God dictate your life. Humans are always in a hurry to get their needs met even at the expense of their relationship with God. In Exodus 32, the Israelite after waiting for Moses ran out of patience. “When people refuse to grow in knowledge, this is what happens to them before they give birth to impatience. To this people of Israel, God has always introduced Himself as God or the LORD and not gods or calf. But here, due to their impatience, they wanted gods. So, Aaron made golden calves for them. Brethren, be careful what you collect in a bid to have a solution because all that glitters is not gold” says the author, who gave scriptural examples of characters that tried to be faster than God but did not end well. She warned that “no matter what you achieve in life, if you are outside God’s will for your life, you are not yet fulfilled.

CHAPTER 5 talks about how you can discipline yourself so you can learn and hear God’s voice. How can you hear the voice of God? Read this book and learn so that you don’t fall victim to satanic agents, false prophets and teachers and even your own carnal thoughts.
How does your attitude towards fellow men affect your hearing God’s voice? Please, read this book. “Hearing from God is one of the greatest privileges a believer enjoys.”

Can God be glorified by your negative situation? Find out from this book. It says “Understand this brethren, that many people all over the world have the tendency to fail in life but they violently rejected failure and cleaved to the pain and pressing forward to success and victory over all limitations or against all odds.” How did they do it? Read this book.

CHAPTER 6 talks about the altar of submission. It says when humans are going through challenges, they either look for people to blame or even blame God. Proverbs 19:3 says “People ruin or destroy their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the LORD”. But people have gone through the same path before. Even Jesus prayed during his earthly ministry asking the Father to “take the cup of suffering away from him”. But the Father did not respond to that prayer because if God had answered, all of us would have been in bondage for life. But Jesus prayed again and said: “Father, not my will but let your will be done.”

The book teaches you how to surrender to God’s will. It gave example with a pastor that goes to lobby and manipulate his or her posting like Lot who looked at the trees and good environment not minding God’s will but found himself in Sodom and Gomorrah. Such Minister will also leave God behind. Secondly, the author advises believers about how to react when they see God’s Ministers go through rough times and conditions of life. This book is loaded!
What makes prayer the master key for opening doors? What is the armour of God that Bible says we should put on? What can faith do in all these things? Read this book to find out.

CHAPTER 7 explains the timing method of God. It says The day any human being realizes that the clock that controls the earth does not control God, then we will be able to understand that God is always on time,” quoting “Isaiah 45:19 “I publicly proclaim bold promises. I do not whisper obscurities in some dark corner. I would not have told the people of Israel to seek me if I could not be found. I, the LORD, speak only what is true and declare only what is right.”
The book says something about ministers of God that lobby for posting without seeking God’s Voice and Will.

In the last chapter, the author says: “As I drop my pen here, I encourage every believer to be more sacrificial in our walk with God and work for God, than being title-crazy without zeal for the house of God and at the end of our race or work here on earth, I pray, that our labour will not be wasted.”

BOOK TEXT AND INFORMATION SOURCE: One indisputable fact is that the choice of the New Living Translation Bible for references in the book makes understanding very simple. Using the Bible as basic information source also makes the book reliable.  The author’s simplicity of language, raw examples that are easy to understand and the choice of a big font size for the text all combine to make the book interesting and builds the urge of the reader to keep reading until you find yourself on the last page.

CONCLUSION: In conclusion, apart from the Holy Bible, there is no perfect book in the world. This book is not perfect. However, despite a few minor omissions by the author, which are obviously not deliberate, this book, “When It Seems God Is Silent” is a product of deep research and divine inspiration.

The book is encouraging to everyone going through a wilderness experience. With the assistance of the Holy Spirit and the word of God, it can also help guide you on how to get out of that condition. I recommend this book for every human being that is going through any challenge in life. Everyone needs to read this book. For enquiries, contact +234 9024386158
